Construction has begun on the facade of KHA’s home at 322 Eighth Avenue in New York City. Hired by Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, KHA has redesigned the facade of the first two stories of the building. Where before there was a patchwork of masonry and glass and metal wall systems, there will now be a cohesive glass storefront. The results will give the building a cleaner and more expansive look.
The main entrance will be articulated by a sculptural awning, fabricated by Kammetal in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Thin aluminum bands will smoothly extend from store signage, attractively disguise ventilation louvers, and finally twist into a rounded canopy to lure visitors inside.
The facade renovation began last week, and is estimated to be complete in April of 2016.
